NA Chairperson Timalsina bats for correct information on public health



KATHMANDU: National Assembly (NA) Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timalsina has urged people’s representatives to disseminate right information related to public health.

At an interaction organized by the Ministry of Health and Population with the technical assistance of the World Health Organization and coordination of the Federal Parliament in Kathmandu Tuesday, NA Chairperson Timalsina asserted that the role of people’s representative would be important in giving correct information to the people.

He viewed that the people’s representatives should be sensitized about the COVID-19 risks and they should encourage voters to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and to comply with the health safety protocols against the flu-like infection.

Furthermore, he suggested the people’s representatives to make their respective local level fully vaccinated against COVID-19. According to him, the State had accorded the highest priority to the health sector. Reforming health sector and capacity building of the human resources and physical infrastructures among others were the topmost priority of the State. He informed that such interactions would be organized in six other provinces as well.

Similarly, WHO representatives to Nepal Dr Rajesh Sambhajirao Pandav lauded the role played by the people’s representatives in spreading awareness among the people about how to be safe from crisis emanating from pandemic like COVID-19, importance of vaccine against COVID-19.

Likewise, secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr Roshan Pokharel urged the people’s representatives to run awareness drive against COVID-19 as they are exemplary figures to the people.
