KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that the CPN-Maoist Center and the Unified Socialist should quit the government if they do not vote in favor of the US grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
Talking to the media at Bharatpur Airport on Tuesday, Thapa said that the existence of the coalition would end the day the ruling parties vote against the government-tabled MCC agreement in the parliament.
NC General Secretary Thapa has said that it would be unethical to vote against the government’s proposal and remain in the government. “One cannot say I am out of the coalition for a particular day and the next day say the coalition is intact.”
Stating that since the communist-led government had at various times put effort to push forward MCC it was futile to protest now, Thapa said, “Or else the parties must be able to admit that made a grave mistake in the past.”
NC leader Thapa reached Chitwan today to mourn late Guna Raj Pathak, who fought for bringing democracy in the country.
