Supreme Court hearing writ against local elections today

KATHMANDU: Supreme Court (SC) is hearing on a writ petition filed against the local level elections today.

The writ petition filed by mayor of Bhangaha municipality of Mahottari district Sanjiv Kumar Sah has been scheduled for today.

Sah in the writ has argued that the scheduled election date is against the Constitution as the five-year term will not be completed by May 13 from the local level elections held in 2074 BS.

If the SC issues an interim as per the demand made by the petitioner, the election will be postponed.

The local level election is being held for May 13.
