Six injured in jackal attack in Mahottari



MAHOTTARI: At least six persons of a village sustained injuries in a jackal attack in Mahottari on Tuesday.

Two women and four men of Pipara rural municipality-7, Banauli village were injured in the incident of jackal bite.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) at District Police Office, Krishna Pangeni, the injured were Dinesh Thakur, 50, Shiva Shanker Saha, 62, Biltu Mandal, 55, Lutan Saha, 55, Sinaha Devi, 65, and Ramtola Devi, 55.

A herd of jackals had attacked them while returning home from a nearby forest located in the western part of the village.

The locals were returning with fodder and firewood from the forest.

Injured Shiva Shanker, Sinaha and Ramleela were taken to Janakpur-based Janaki Hospital for treatment last night.

Other four who received primary aid in the local clinic last night were also taken to Janakpur for further treatment, said Baidyanath Chaudhary, a local.
