KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) is holding an election to elect a parliamentary party (PP) leader today.
The Election Committee, formed by the Central Performance Committee, announced the agenda for the election of the parliamentary party leader on December 21.
According to the party, voting will be held from 8 am to 10 am.
Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday registered his nomination for the parliamentary party leader of Nepali Congress.
Party senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel proposed Deuba’s name for the post seconded by party leader Purna Bahadur Khadka.
Meanwhile, party General Secretary Gagan Thapa also registered his candidacy for the leader of the parliamentary party.
Thapa’s supporters include Dr. Shekhar Koirala, Dhanraj Gurung, Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Pradeep Paudel.
Voting for the leader of the parliamentary party will be held on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
A total of 89 NC Members of Parliament will vote in the election for the leader of the parliamentary party.
The winner should garner 51 percent or 45 votes.
