KATHMANDU: State Minister for Education, Science and Technology Bodh Kumari Yadav appealed to the concerned ones not to make schools a political field, arguing that academic institution was a place for teaching -learning activities.
Addressing the second anniversary of the Society of Education Journalists here today, Minister Yadav asserted that since the educational institutions were sacred temple run to offer education to children, padlocking, disruption of any sort and politics were not desired in such institutions.
Stating that ‘Concept Paper of Education-2079 BS’ was recently made public aiming to reform education sectors, Yadav expressed her expectation for cooperation from all quarters to implement it effectively.
According to her, today’s era is dominated by technology and social networking and it is also responsibility of the citizens to provide relevant education and expand the information.
Similarly, Deepak Sharma, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, shared that the concept paper of education unveiled by the government had incorporated overall aspects of development of education and the concept paper was a ‘vibrant’ document.
He reaffirmed his commitment that the Ministry would make sure there would be no dearth of dissemination for educational information.
Similarly, education expert Prof Dr Basudev Kafle argued that excellence was the basis for quality education and excellence and containment were necessary. He underscored the need for the education journalists to work for investigation journalism and public awareness.
On the occasion, various social workers dedicated for the cause of public education reforms were feted. Dhanusha’s Janata Secondary School’s principal Pawan Mandal, Kathmandu’s Janakalyan Secondary School’s principal Kumari Kamala Rai, Vishwaniketan Secondary School’s management committee’s chairperson Gopal Shrestha and Kavrepalanchowk’s Janajyoti Secondary School’s principal Bhanubhakta Mainali were honored.
Furthermore, the Society awarded Annapurna Post’s journalist Tara Chapagain with Education Journalism Award carrying a purse of Rs 25,000. The prize was instituted by the financial aid worth Rs 222,222 from social worker Gopi Kandel who was also feted in the programme for his contribution in setting up a revolving fund
