Children aged 5-12 to be administered COVID vaccine from today



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population is administering vaccines against COVID-19 to children in 50 districts from today.

The first dose of the vaccine will be given to children aged 5 to 12 from the 21st to the 27th of August.

According to Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, Co-Spokesperson of the Ministry, in the second phase, children in 50 districts will be vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.

The children who received the first dose will be administered the second dose from September 12 to September 17.

Earlier, children in 27 districts were vaccinated against Coronavirus.

According to the Ministry, children between 5 to 12 years old will be vaccinated based on the list prepared by the school, and the identity card provided by the school.

Similarly, in the case of children who are not enrolled in school, and those who have reached the age will be vaccinated on the basis of their parents’ identity cards.

Children from districts, including Bhojpur, Dhankuta, Khotang, Okhaldhunga, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Taplejung, Terhthum and Udaipur of Province No. 1 will be vaccinated.

Likewise, other districts include Bara, Rautahat and Sarlahi of Madhes Province; and Ramechhap, Dolakha, Dhading, Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Sindhupanchok of Bagmati Province.

Similarly, Baglung, Gorkha, Lamjung, Manang, Mustang, Myagdi, Parbat, Syangja and Tanahun in Gandaki Province are also included in the list.

Other districts include Kapilvastu, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Palpa, Pyuthan, Rolpa, Salyan, Dolpa, Humla, Jumla, Kalikot, Mugu, Dailekh, Jajarkot, Achham, Doti, Bajhang, Bajura, Baitadi and Darchula.
