Bharatpur Airport expansion to start soon: Tourism Minister Shrestha

CHITWAN: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha has said the expansion of the Bharatpur Airport would begin in the current fiscal year, 2022/23.

The Nepal Army is ready to provide the land for the project and construction work would begin soon, he said at a program in Chitwan.

“The Ministry has accorded high priority to the project. It requires around 300 meters land for it and a talk to this effect with the Army Chief was positive,” he added.

Likewise, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Pradip Adhikari said a detailed study report would be carried out soon with budget from the CAAN.

Pledging help for facilitating construction work on the part of the metropolis, metropolis mayor Renu Dahal urged for the construction of the airport soon.
