NC leader Nagesh Koirala elected Biratnagar Metropolis mayor

BIRATNAGAR: Nepali Congress candidate Nagesh Koirala has been elected as the mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City.

Koirala defeated Sagar Thapa of CPN-UML to become the mayor. He got 30,170 votes while his rival Thapa polled 21,455 votes.

Similarly, UML’s Shilpa Nirala Karki has been elected as the deputy mayor by defeating Janata Samajwadi Party’s Amarendra Yadav.

Deputy Mayor Karki received 25,680 votes while her closest rival Yadav got 14,219 votes. Yadav is the son of JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav.
