Three killed as gale blows down tree in Chitwan



CHITWAN: Three people have died in Chitwan on Friday evening when a tree fell on them due to strong winds.

Two persons were killed while traveling in an autorickshaw at Bhojad and another in a vehicle at Baseni.

According to Narahari Ghimire, the spokesperson of the District Police Office, Chitwan, the auto (Na 2 Ha 2247) heading towards Bharatpur from Padampur was hit by a tree in Bhojad forest.

The deceased have been identified as Pradip Kumar Lama, 51, of Lamatol in Bharatpur-11 and Maya Gurung, 28, of Katahar Chowk in Bharatpur-7.

Abita Gurung, 20, and Tulmaya Gurung, 50, of Lamatol in Bharatpur-11 sustained injuries in the incident. They are undergoing treatment at Old Medical College.

Similarly, a 48-year-old local Loknath Neupane died on the spot when a tree (No. 1 Ja 6140) fell on his vehicle at Baseni Chowk, Bharatpur-11.
