NC recommends five names for the post of Kathmandu mayor

Nepali Congress (NC) has recommended five names for the mayoral candidate of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

The meeting has recommended the names of Nilkaji Shakya, Sirjana Singh, Hari Prabha Khadgi Shrestha, Susan Vaidha and Pragatiman Ranjit.

SEE preparations complete; exam to start 8:00 am tomorrow

The preparations have been completed for the Secondary Education Examination (SEE), 2078 BS scheduled to start from 8:00 am on April 22, simultaneously across the country.

It may be noted that the National Examinations Board had recognized schools’ internal assessments of students for SEE results of two consecutive previous years (2076 and 2077 BS) due to COVID-19 crisis.

Gautam Buddha International Airport comes into operation

The Gautam Buddha International Airport – a national pride project — in Rupandehi district, Lumbini Province has formally come into operation from today.

This is the second international airport in the country after the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

NEPSE gains 4.94 points to close at 2,325.45 on Thursday

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has recorded slight improvement on the last trading day of the week Thursday.

The NEPSE index gained 4.94 points to close at 2,325.45 points today. Likewise, the Sensitive index rose by 2.06 points to close at 443.14 points.

Ministry of Health urges all to follow health safety protocols

The Ministry of Health and Population has urged one and all to follow the health safety protocols.

Ministry spokesperson Dr Sangeeta Kaushal Mishra through a press release today urged the people to strictly abide by the public health safety guidelines in view of the risk of corona virus infection in the country following an increase in the number of infections in the neighbouring country India.

Death toll from explosion at Patan Industrial Estate reaches two

The death toll from a blast at an oxygen plant in Lalitpur’s Patan Industrial Estate has climbed to two.

According to Spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, Siddhi Bikram Shah, the death toll has risen to two after another person died at Patan Hospital at around 1:45 pm Thursday. One person had died shortly after the incident.

WHO Director General arrives in Kathmandu

WHO Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday on a three-day Nepal visit. He came to Nepal from India.

He is in Nepal at the invitation of Minister of Health and Population Birodh Khatiwada.
