Indian Premier League: Delhi defeats Punjab by nine wickets



KATHMANDU: Delhi Capitals has clinched a nine-wicket win over Punjab Kings in the 15th Indian Premier League (IPL) underway in India.

Delhi defeated Punjab after it reached the target of 116 in 10.3 overs at the cost of one wicket on Wednesday night.

For the win of Delhi, David Warner top-scored with 61 runs including 10 fours and one six off 30 balls, and remained unbeaten.

Similarly, Prithvi Shaw made 41 runs including seven fours and one six off 20 balls while Sarfaraj Khan remained unbeaten in 12 balls.

In reply, Punjab’s Rahul Chahar took one wicket from Delhi.

Earlier,  invited to bat first after losing the toss, Punjab had made 115 runs losing all the wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Jitesh Sharma made the highest 32 runs followed by Mayank Agarwal with 24 runs while Shahrukh Khan collected 12 runs. The other batsmen could not reach double-digit runs.

Delhi’s Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Lalit Yadav, and Khalil Ahammad took two wickets each while Mustafizur Rahman grabbed one wicket from Punjab.

With this victory, Delhi climbed the sixth position in the points table with three wins and three losses out of six matches played so far. Similarly, Punja is in the eighth position with six points. It has lost four matches and won three out of seven matches.
