4,044 kg gold worth Rs 28.17 bln imported to Nepal in eight months of running fiscal



KATHMANDU: Around 4,044 kilograms of gold was imported to Nepal in the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2021/22.

According to the Department of Customs, 4,044.5 kg gold was imported in the country from mid-July of 2021 to mid-March, 2022.

The data of the department showed that Rs 28.17 billion exited the country to import the said amount of gold.

Notably, in the review period, gold entered Nepal from two nations only, namely United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Turkey. Also, Rs 5.92 billion went to Turkey and Rs 22.24 billion to the UAE for the import of gold entering the country in the first eight months of this fiscal.

In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year 2020/21, as much as 2,300 kg of gold worth Rs. 16.28 billion was imported into Nepal.
