KATHMANDU: Glocal After School, is an entity of Glocal Pvt. Ltd, that focuses on building 21st-century employability skills among people through various methods, events, courses, and trainings. It aim to bridge the gap between industry and academia by curating and initiating different demand-oriented learning opportunities.

In 2019, Glocal Pvt. Ltd. researched Skills for Future Jobs in Nepal for the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security’s Training Department, and to promote its outcome and promote Skill as a whole, Glocal started its flagship program, Skill Week.

Skill Week 2022 is the third edition of celebrating skills and building an ecosystem of Skill Education.

Skill Week is a week packed with events, creativity, skills, inspirations, and insights. This is a week earmarked to conducting workshops related to diverse skills, skill-focused competitions, skill shows and exhibitions, learning hub, and sessions along with several entertainment components making this an infotainment week honoring skill.

To do justice to the four core pillars of skill week: Art and Culture, Tourism and Hospitality, Science and Technology, and Entrepreneurship, this edition of skill week will be held from March 21 to 27, and different experts from these fields will be invited to impart their knowledge to the curious youth.

On the second last day of skill week, March 26, a skill fest will be organized at Ace Institute of Management, New Baneshwor, for people to showcase their skills and learn new ones. It will be a day full of fun-filled activities and learning opportunities for the youth.

Several skillful stalls and activities will be lined up for the people to test their skills, share, explore and enjoy skill learning with their friends. This event is an open and free platform for youth between the ages of 16-30.

This event will help youths to network, explore, get engaged and educate in the various skills. All the workshops, events, and competitions are free to participate in and learn from.

The main highlights of the event are Talks, Presentations, Exhibitions, Displays, Competitions, Workshops, Training, Skill Fest, Entertainment, and Human Library Session by distinguished experts and guests.

Throughout the Skill Week, workshops will be provided by different organizations and individuals at various venues throughout the week, the details of which can be found on the official website of Skill Week at www.skill.glocalafterschool.com.

CEO Unplugged, a yearly forum organized by Glocal Pvt. Ltd, comprising a series of panel discussions that tries to establish a platform to discuss entrepreneurship, contemporary business challenges, possibilities, and futuristic view for the newcomers in the business world and students with an objective of “Today Meets Tomorrow” will also be held on the last day of Skill Week i.e. March 27.

On the Closing Ceremony of the Skill Week, Nabil Skill Hero Award will also be organized, where four veterans from the respective field will be recognized and awarded for their dedication and inspiration for people to follow.

Glocal Pvt. Ltd. Executive Director Asish Thakur, while addressing the press conference held to inform about the event, said, “Skill Week focuses on skill building and skill promotion among young people in Nepal through a series of workshops, competitions,, exhibition, events and fun filled activities. We have partnered with great partners and corporate houses to not only promote the skills amongst youngsters but give them a chance to interact with their potential employers.”
