Hospital for infectious diseases comes into operation in Kalikot



KATHMANDU: A hospital for treatment of infectious diseases has come into operation at Mamna of Khandachakra Municipality-1in Kalikot district from last Sunday.

The Infectious Diseases Hospital would render treatment for malaria, HIV/AIDS, visceral leishmaniasis (commonly known as kalazar), tuberculosis, COVID-19 and respiratory related communicable diseases, shared Health Service Office chief Dr Ratnabir Sunar.

“The Hospital will provide services for all sorts of communicable diseases,” he said, adding that the Hospital was run to cater to the needs of the local patients. The 15-bed Hospital is also likely to benefits patients from neighbouring districts such as Jumla, Humla, Mugu, Achham, Dailekh and Bajura.

The Hospital, earlier used to treat the COVID-19 suspected and infected patients, will be upgraded into a 50-bed health facility in future, informed Dr Sunar.

The Hospital having vacancy for 21 health workers and administrative staffs currently has a senior general physician, a medical officer, a housekeeper and one assistant pharmacist among others.
