Let’s prepare for an electoral alliance, NC is still undecided: Prachanda tells Nepal

KATHMANDU: With the local elections around the corner, the ruling coalition is yet to make a concrete decision concerning the electoral alliance.

Chairman of Unified Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has proposed to form an electoral alliance with Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal sans the Nepali Congress party.

“It’s high time that we allied and face the local elections,” Prachanda told Unified Socialist Chairman Nepal over the phone this morning.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Monday morning, Chairman Nepal told his party cadres that Prachanda had telephoned him in the morning and proposed an electoral alliance.

Chairman Nepal said, “Prachanda proposed me to initiate efforts to make an alliance as the Nepali Congress was yet to give its nod on the issue.”

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Ram Chandra Poudel are in favor of forming an alliance while the faction led by Shekhar Koirala is not in favor of an electoral alliance.
