KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the foreign currency reserve would suffice for the import of goods and services for 6.8 months. He further said electricity production was upped; economic activities improved and export promoted in the last six months.
Reasoning this, the economic growth rate may be higher than the previous year, according to PM Deuba.
Although there were some stresses on economy in the last three months, reform was being made via financial and monitory policies, PM Deuba said, assuring that there would not be a shortage of investable capital.
PM Deuba said it during his address to the nation on Friday.
The PM reminded construction of Bhairahawa and Pokhara airports was in the final stage, and first phase of landfill site at Bancharedanda of Nuwakot was completed. The Melamchi drinking water project would be revived and Kathmandu Valley ensured water supply within this year. The ‘Tarai/Madhes Tube Well and Sanitation’ program was running effectively.
Moreover, the laying of optical fibres was completed in 438 km; 85 pregnant women were airlifted to better health safety under President Women Upliftment Program. As many as 34 government services were linked to Nagarik App; Afghan people provided humanitarian support; and Nepal’s image in the international forum was boosted with the participation in Glasgow Summit.
