Province 1 CM Rai admits government’s poor delivery



BIRATNAGAR: Chief Minister of Province No. 1 Rajendra Kumar Rai has admitted that he could not do as per people’s aspirations and needs despite the province government’s efforts.

The Chief Minister said so while addressing the Second Annual General Assembly of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Province No. 1 in Biratnagar on Tuesday.

On the occasion, Rai claimed that the province government formed amid challenges has given top priority for the media sector and stated that many things have left to do in the media sector due to limited budget.

He shared that the province government has allocated budget in each district of the province for the physical infrastructure development of the FNJ. Rai argued that the media should play constructive and critical roles to further strengthen democracy.

Also speaking at the event, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Indra Bahadur Angbo praised the role of Nepali media sector for the country’s political and social transformation.

Likewise, Minister for Communications Upendra Prasad Ghimire said the province government was always ready for the cause, welfare and rights of the journalists.

During the program, Chairman of FNJ Bipul Pokharel laid emphasis on professional security of journalists.

Journalists from the Province No. 1 districts also shared their views on professionalism and other issues of the media sector at the program.
