EC instructs polling officers not to postpone voting without prior consent



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has directed the polling officers not to issue any notice of postponement of polling for some time just on the basis of general disputes in polling stations.

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapalia, on Sunday, directed all the polling officers to resume polling which was suspended for some time due to the general dispute at the polling station and not to post any notification of polling postponement till 5 pm.

Currently, there are reports that polling is being postponed due to general disputes in the polling stations of some constituencies. Likewise, in some places, voting has been postponed due to the negligence of the staff.
