FIFA World Cup 2022: All eyes on Qatar



KATHMANDU: A total of 64 matches will be played in 29 days at the FIFA World Cup 2022 beginning today (Sunday).

The Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 will see a total of 32 teams from five confederations competing for the biggest prize in football.

In today’s opening match under Group A, host Qatar will face Ecuador at 9:45 PM (NST).

The maches will be held across eight stadiums in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.

The football teams have already been divided into eight groups of four (A to H). Only the top two teams will enter the knockout stages, according to FIFA.

Meanwhile, the semi-finals will be played on December 14 and 15 while the final match will take place at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on December 18, 2022.

This is the first time that a country from the Middle East is hosting the FIFA World Cup.
