KATHMANDU: The health condition of Nepali Congress (NC) leader and member of the House of Representatives, Pradeep Giri, is critical, the hospital said.
Giri, who has been undergoing treatment at Medicity Hospital in Lalitpur for three weeks, was put on ventilator from Thursday.
On the request of the family, he was taken off the ventilator on Friday. The doctor involved in the treatment said that he is now being placed on oxygen. Giri is given a very high dose of oxygen.
According to the doctor, he was removed from the ventilator and placed on oxygen at the request of the family.
Giri, who returned to Nepal after undergoing cancer treatment in Mumbai, India for a long time, was admitted to Medicity Hospital after contracting pneumonia.
A prayer meeting was also held on Friday to pray for his speedy recovery. Giri has other problems including pneumonia.
NC General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said that there is a need for prayers for leader Giri at this time.
Sharma said in a tweet, ” May senior politician and lawmaker Pradip Giri, a respectable intellectual who is struggling for life, return home in good health from the hospital. Let’s all wish for his speedy recovery.”
