MELAMCHI: A test has been carried out to know the status of the early warning system (siren) installed in the natural calamity-prone Melamchi area.

In order to put precautionary measures to check possible risk during the monsoon season, test was undertaken on the status of siren installed in Talamarang, Melamchi Bazaar and Bahunepati Bazaar last year.

Environment Officer at Melamchi Municipality Sujan Dulal said, “It would help mitigate potential risks of disaster during the monsoon season and reduce the loss of lives and properties”.

It may be noted that Melamchi had installed the siren-enabled early warning system on its own investment following the devastating floods and landslides last year.

The system was put in place with the technical assistance of Ram Laxman Innovation Pvt Ltd. Meanwhile, Nepali Congress central member Mohan Bahadur Basnet urged the public schools to pay attention on quality education.
