JSP mayor candidate Singh widens his lead with nearly 12,000 votes in Birgunj Metropolis



KATHMANDU: Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) mayor candidate Rajeshman Singh is widening his lead with nearly 1,2000 votes in Birgunj Metropolitan City.

Singh got 23,892 votes while his nearest rival Vijay Kumar Sarawgi of the CPN-UML collected 12,289 votes. Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s candidate Girish Giri is distant behind with just 1426 votes.

Similarly, Imtiaz Alam of Nepali Congress is lead the deputy mayoral race with 16,881 votes while Purushottam Lal Jha of Democratic Socialist Party is struggling to chase Alam with 3,576 votes.

The ruling coalition had agreed to support JSP candidate for mayor and the Nepali Congress candidate for deputy mayor in Birgunj.

Similarly, the CPN-UML and the Democratic Socialist Party also formed electoral coordination.
