Ruling coalition’s midnight meeting fails to strike chords

Meeting even today on distribution of sub metropolises



KATHMANDU: The ruling alliance is holding a meeting on Wednesday morning to finalize the distribution of the metropolises and sub-metropolises.

Top leaders of the coalition held discussions for consensus from Tuesday midnight to 2:30 am but could not reach a final conclusion.

After no agreement was reached, the meeting was adjourned till 11 am today.

Leaders participating in the meeting said that the meeting was close to a conclusion.

Minister for Information and Communications Gyanendra Karki said that the discussions had ended on a positive note and the inched closer to conclusion.

CPN (Unified Socialist) leader Bijay Poudel said that an agreement in principle has been reached on the distribution of metropolises and that of sub-metropolises is yet to be finalized.

According to Poudel, the Nepali Congress has agreed in principle to take three out of six metropolises and the rest of the parties to take one metropolis each.

Leaders have said that it will be finalized by today’s meeting.
