Senior DIGs lodge complaint against AIG promotion

Reach PSC with complaint and plan to take it to court as well

KATHMANDU: Dissatisfied with the recommendation to promote three Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) of Nepal Police to the post of Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG), senior DIGs have lodged a complaint with the Public Service Commission (PSC).

The promotion recommendation committee of the  Ministry of Home Affairs had recommended DIGs Basanta Pant, Dhiraj Pratap Singh and Rabindra Dhanuk to the post of AIG on April 20.

However, DIGs of the current Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shailesh Thapa Chhetri’s batch have lodged a complaint with the Public Service Commission arguing that the recommendation for promotion was not done on the basis of seniority and efficiency.

DIG Ishwar Babu Karki said that he had come to the Public Service Commission to lodge a complaint. He said he would also go to court.

Earlier, giving hints about his further move on social media Twitter on Sunday, DIG Karki had said he would go with the majority’s suggestion to seek justice from the court.
