PM Deuba says govt committed to holding free, fair elections

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that his government was committed to conducting free and fair elections.

Emphasizing the need for all to be committed to conducting local-level elections in a free and fair manner, Prime Minister Deuba said, “The country is getting local-level election around the corner. All should be committed to creating an environment to organize the poll in a free and fair manner.”

He said that there was a need for people’s representatives to ensure impartiality, quality, accountability and people’s ownership in their work delivery.

Stating that the main responsibility of the local government is to deliver its service in a fast, easy and impartial way, he said, “It should fulfill its responsibility and ensure ownership to people by carrying out its duties as per their expectations and spirit despite limited resources.”
