KATHMANDU: The Department of Roads has awarded Ashish Samanantar Religare JV the contract to build a flyover along the Ring Road at Gwarko in Lalitpur.

Religare JV bagged the contract at Rs. 170 million for the flyover project. A total of nine companies took part in the bidding process for the contract.

Quality Research and Development Center (QRDC) of Roads Department had issued a tender for the flyover project in July 2021. The contract has been awarded at about 38 percent less than the estimated cost. The Ministry of Finance had secured Rs 330 million for the construction of this flyover.

QRDC Director Prabhat Kumar Jha said other companies participating in the tender process could file claims against the Religare JV. He added in case no claims are made, the process would move ahead and a purchase agreement would be signed with the company.

Religare JV will undertake drawing and designing tasks for the project under the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) modality.

A 35-meter flyover would be built over four lanes of the Ring Road with a ramp of 280 meters from the Balkumari side and 175 meters from the Satdobato side.

The Department of Roads aims to complete the flyover within two years of signing the contract. The department is positive that the flyover will reduce the traffic jam at Gwarko Chowk.
