Left-democratic alliance will lead new government: Madhav Nepal

CPN-Unified Socialist Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the post-election government will be formed under the leadership of the left-democratic alliance.

Addressing a program organized by the Unified Socialist to welcome newly elected members to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly in Kathmandu on Monday, Chairman Nepal ruled out the immediate possibility of the formation of a new government merely under the leadership of the leftist alliance.

Rabi Lamichhane elected PP leader of Rastriya Swatantra Party

Party chairman Rabi Lamichhane has been elected as the leader of the Parliamentary Party (PP) of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

A meeting of the party held on Monday elected Lamichhane as the leader of the parliamentary party.

Prachanda reiterates his desire to lead government

Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has said that leader of the ruling alliance would soon forge consensus on a common Prime Ministerial candidate.

Prachanda said that there has been no concrete discussion among the ruling partners on picking the prime minister.

“If I get the opportunity to lead the country, I have already made my position clear that I will take responsibility,” Prachanda said.

Parliamentary secretariat in preparation for administering oath

The federal parliamentary-secretariat has intensified its preparation for administering oath of office to the newly-elected members of the House of Representatives (HoR).

Once the President administers oath of office and secrecy to the senior-most member among the newly-elected, other members would be sworn in later.
