5.9 magnitude earthquake shakes Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: A 5.9 magnitude earthquake was felt in Kathmandu and surrounding areas on Wednesday afternoon.

The quake took place at around 3.08 pm.

According to Lok Bijaya Adhikari, the head of National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, the epicenter of today’s earthquake was near Sindhupalchowk- Tibet border.

Shockwaves from the quake were felt in Kathmandu and its surrounding districts, said the local people.
