KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Center) has extended deadline to withdraw nominations of rebel candidates contesting against official candidates of left-democratic alliance.

Chief Secretary of the Maoist Central Office Shriram Dhakal said the time period for withdrawing or deactivating rebel candidature has been extended till October 21.

The Maoists had previously asked rebel candidates to withdraw their nominations by October 17.

Issuing a statement yesterday, the party has provided more time to withdraw the candidacy or make rebel candidacy inactive.

The party also clarified that if a decision is made within October 21, no action will be taken on behalf of the party.

Earlier, the Maoists had warned that those who ran against the official candidate would be expelled from the party and action would be taken.
