Parties submitting PR candidates’ list to EC today

KATHMANDU: Political parties are submitting the closed list of candidates for the House of Representatives (HoR) and the Provincial Assembly under the Proportional Representation (PR) to the Election Commission today.

Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Maoist Center, Unified Socialist, Janata Samajbadi Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party, among others, are submitting the closed list to the EC on Monday.

The parties are submitting the closed list as per the deadline set by the EC.

The EC had allotted two days – September 18 and 19 – to the parties to submit the closed list.

On September 18, only two political parties — Nepal Samabesi Party and Tarai Madhesh Loktantrik Party submitted their list to the EC.

The main opposition party, CPN-UML, held a meeting of the Secretariat and prepared the list by picking 110 candidates under the PR category for the House of Representatives and State Assembly.

The Maoist Center, too, is finalizing the list today.

Elections to the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly are being held on November 20.
