Acting CJ Karki inspects Nepali Army’s Special Court at Bhadrakali

KATHMANDU: Acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki has inspected the Nepali Army(NA)’s Special Court at NA headquarters in Bhadrakali, Kathmandu.

Acting CJ Karki carried out the inspection as complaints of irregularities such as delay in justice dispensation and NA officers suffering undue plight at the Martial Special Court, among others, came to fore.

Army officers to soldiers complained that the hearing of cases is postponed, verdict is delayed and they remain deprived of the facilities they get under the law due to irregulaties at the NA Special Court.

Though acting CJ Karki’s inspected the Military Special Court on July 7, the matter was kept under wraps by Supreme Court Administration and the NA.

The inspection visit was disclosed in the latest issue of NA newsletter Sainik. Acting CJ Karki had visited the Special Court at NA headquarters in 2017 as well.

Acting CJ Karki was welcomed by Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Prabhuram Sharma during the former’s inspection visit to NA Special Court.

Acting CJ Karki took stock of matters directed to the NA by the former CJs and judges in the past.

Similarly, Chairman of the Military Special Court and acting Chief Justice Mahesh Prasad Pudasaini and Registrar of the army special court Colonel Om Bahadur Bhatt apprised the Supreme Court acting CJ on the activities of the NA Special Court.

The inspection visit was accompanied by Military Special Court member and Defense Secretary Kiran Raj Sharma, Chief Registrar of Supreme Court, among others.
