Coordination essential on managing city infrastructures: Mayor Shah

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balen Shah has stressed the need for coordination among related sectors to intensify the works relating to infrastructures.

He wondered how long it would take to blacktop the roads torn up for water supply at ward no 13, 14, 15 and 26.

He put forth this question during a discussion with stakeholders working in the sector of infrastructure development in the KMC.

Similarly, he questioned the office bearers of the Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Ltd how the works on laying drinking water pipes were going on at ward no 2 to 5.

Also questioned on the occasion were the officials of the electricity authority.

They were asked when the electric wires strewn on the road at different places including Ranibari, Baluwatar, Bishalnagar, Dhumbarahi, Handigaon, Maligaon, and New Bus Park would be collected.

However, the officials said the blacktopping of the roads torn up for laying drinking water pipes could not happen on time due to rainy season.

The Mayor also pointed out the need for improving individual and institutional behaviour for urban management.

He viewed if the behaviour of service providers was changed, it could help improve urban facilities.
