Chair Nepal expresses discontent over delay in shuffling CPN-US ministers

KATHMANDU: CPN Unified Socialist (CPN-US) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has expressed discontent over the delay in shuffling his party’s minister in government.

Stating that the party had decided to shuffle ministers after six months of joining the government, Chairman Nepal said the Prime Minister and other coalition partners sought more time as they (the Unified Socialist) wanted to replace ministers after eight months.

“There has been a delay in replacing ministers. The Prime Minister and the Maoist comrades had told us to wait for a day or two as there were similar demands within them. They assured that cabinet would be shuffled soon,” he said.

Chairman Nepal said that the party was shuffling ministers under duress (without disclosing the matter further).

The Unified Socialist wanted to replace party’s ministers and forwarded names of new ministes to the Prime Minister a while ago. However, the change of ministers is yet to happen.

Leader Nepal leader expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in changing of ministers.

Earlier, coalition partners had stayed the Unified Socialist’s decision to replace ministers saying incumbent ministers needed to furnish answer on the ministry-wise budget. With the budget session coming to an end, the party wants the intended shuffle to take place at the earliest now.
