Complaint lodged against Tourism Minister Ale in Parliament

KATHMANDU: A complaint has been lodged against Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale in the Parliament’s Conduct Monitoring Committee of the Lower House for violating the code of conduct for parliamentarians.

Advocates duos Kishor Poudel and Anupam Bhattarai along with law student Rejina Poudel registered the complaint against Minister Ale. The complaint sought necessary action against Ale after conducting a lab test on the reality of an audio that was made public by the media.

“For some time now, there have been reports of Minister Prem Bahadur Ale using obscene words in telephone and face-to-face meetings with various people. According to the audio and media reports made public in various newspapers and online media of Nepal a few days ago, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority was also assaulted by Minister Ale. We request the Member of Parliament to test the audio and recommend it for further investigation,” the complaint reads.

“It has been found that the Minister Ale had used obscene words against the chairman of the authority over the telephone in anger over not recruiting some of his people to the position of staff,” the statement read.

“The incident where the minister is using abusive language in his own office by violating the rules cannot be considered as a normal issue.

This has not only hurt the language and culture of Nepal, it has also been a shameless attack on the dignity of the social security system,” the complaint letter further reads.
