NC victorious in Kamala, JSP wins mayor in Shahidnagar of Dhanusha



KATHMANDU: A Nepali Congress (NC) candidate has won the election for mayor at Kamala municipality in Dhanusha.

Bisheshwor Yadav defeated rival Pashupati Yadav of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) by 1,028 votes to win the election.

The mayor-elect received 3,887 followed by 2,859 of his competitor. The NC has also emerged victorious on the post of deputy-mayor as party candidate Shila Devi Mandal won the election with 3,887 votes. Her nearest competitor Punita Kumari from the JSP got 2,766.

In the meantime, the JSP won the post of mayor in the Shahidnagar municipality in the district while the post of a deputy-mayor went to the NC.

Dinesh Prasad Yadav has been elected mayor of Shahidnagar municipality for a next five-year term while Sunita Kumari Singh has won the post of a deputy-mayor.

Yadav obtained 5,743 votes while his nearest competitor form the NC, Sudhir Kumar Goit, was stopped at 4,105 votes.

Similarly, Singh got 4,931 against 4,791 of Laxminiya Mandal of JSP.
