Vote count in 570 of 753 local levels over

NC wins mayor/chairperson in 253 local levels; UML in 164 and Maoist Center in 105



KATHMANDU: Vote count of 570 out of 753 local levels of the country has completed.

So far, Nepal’s grand old party Nepali Congress (NC) has won most of the local levels followed by the CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist Center) at the third place.

According to the Election Commission (EC), out of 570 local units, the NC alone won the posts of mayors and chairpersons in 253 local levels.

The UML, so far, is distant second winning the top posts in 164 local bodies. And, the Maoist Center is at the third position succeeding in claiming 105 local level chiefs and chairpersons.

Similarly, the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) became victorious in 15 local levels, the CPN (Unified Socialist) in 12 and the Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) in two local bodies.

Independent candidates have won the mayor’s and chairperson’s posts in 19 local bodies till now.
