KATHMANDU: With hardly six days to go before the deadline for the nomination filing, the ruling alliance is struggling hard to finalize the distribution of metropolises and sub-metropolises.
The ruling coalition has called a meeting to reach an agreement on the distribution of metropolitan and sub-metropolitan cities at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar at 11 am today as well.
A meeting of the ruling coalition held on Monday failed to reach an agreement to finalize the distribution of metropolis and sub-metropolises.
The meeting of the ruling coalition met twice yesterday but failed to reach an agreement, said Nepali Congress leader and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.
He added that the meeting would resume on Tuesday as well.
“We could not finalize candidates in all the places and will be meeting again at 11 on Tuesday,” he said.
Ruling coalition leaders had vowed to conclude the process of candidate selection in six metropolitan cities and 11 sub-metropolitan cities by Monday.
Meanwhile, as the coalition meeting was underway this afternoon, United States Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry had entered Baluwatar. The purpose of his visit is yet to be known.
