PM Deuba inaugurates Khimti power substation



RAMECHHAP: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today inaugurated the country’s second largest power substation amid a ceremony. The Prime Minister inaugurated the new Khimti 220-132 KV substation at Sankhe (Fulasi) in Manthali Municipality-13 of Ramechhap.

The substation is a major part of the country’s largest 456 MW Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, built with local capital. The substation constructed by the Upper Tamakoshi Project is the second largest substation in Nepal after Dhalkebar substation.

The new Khimti substation connecting Tamakoshi and its tributaries will generate up to 1,200 MW of electricity.
The electricity generated from the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project is connected to the new Khimti substation from a 47 km long 220 KV double circuit transmission line. In addition to Upper Tamakoshi, 60 MW Khimti I, 52.4 MW Likhu IV and 24.2 MW Likhu Khola A are connected to this substation.
Similarly, the electricity connected to the new Khimti substation has been taken from the 76 km 220 kV transmission line to the 400/ 220/ 132 kV substation at Dhalkebar in Dhanusha. The surplus electricity has been exported to India through the Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur transborder transmission line.
Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Kulman Ghising and others were present on the occasion.
