Cetamol supply to be normal by Friday

KATHMANDU: The Department of Drug Administration has claimed that the supply of cetamol will be smooth by Friday.

Responding to the reports about the likely shortage of the paracetamol tablets, Narayan Prasad Dhakal, Director General of DDA informed that there is enough stock of the paracetamol tablets for the time being and the Department has already directed the concerned companies to ensure there will be no shortage of such supply in future.

He said that during the Wednesday’s discussion with the the manufacturers and importers and other stakeholders, the Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, Nepal Pharmaceutical Practitioners Association and other stakeholders expressed their commitment to ensure the availability of the most essential drugs including paracetamol tablets.

“According to the availability of raw materials, all sectors have agreed to increase production, import and sell by importers, and all have taken appropriate initiatives in their respective sectors to facilitate the overall supply system,” said Director General Dhakal, adding, “The trade association has expressed commitment to coordinate the distribution.”

He claimed that the supply problem would be resolved by Friday. According to Dhakal, Nepal Aushadhi Limited has also started sending more cetamol to the market from Thursday. He said that the company has committed to send 600,000 packets of cetamol by Friday. One packet of cetamol contains 10 mills (100 tabs).
