Booster dose to be administered in Jhapa for frontliners within this week

BIRTAMOD: Around 25,000 frontline workers in Jhapa district will be administered booster dose against COVID-19 within this week, according to the District Health Office.

Those receiving their second dose of vaccine upto mid-July last year will be prioritized in the first round.

According to the statistics officer Chudamani Luintel, preparation was underway to provide vaccine to a total of 8,840 people who got Covishield and around 15,000 people who received Vero Cell.

Booster dose of the same vaccine will be provided to the beneficiaries, said Luintel.

Currently, 472 thousand 729 people have received first dose of vaccine while the number of people administered second dose stands at 388 thousand 781.

Vaccination drive for people over 18 years is accelerated in all 15 local levels in the district. Requisition has been made with the Ministry of Health and Population to receive additional 60,000 doses of vaccine.

Booster doses will be provided only after six months of receiving both doses of vaccine.
