UML calls meeting of newly-elected MPs, candidates

KATHMANDU: The CPN (UML) has summoned a meeting of newly-elected members of the House of Representatives (HoR) and Province Assembly, and the candidates under the first-past-the-post electoral system.

UML leader Bishnu Rijal said the meeting would convene on Tuesday in the capital city where the MPs and invitees would be given training on parliamentary roles. The newly-elected MPs would be made aware about the party’s roles in the Federal Parliament and Province Assembly, Rijal added.

UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and other top leaders are scheduled to address the gathering.

In the recently-held elections, UML won 44 seats under the direct electoral system in the HoR and 34 under the proportional representation.

Likewise, the party won 91 seats under the direct and 70 under the proportional representation system in the Province Assembly.
