NC forms 3-member committee to hold PP leader election



KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has formed a 3-member election committee to select the leader of the parliamentary party (PP).

The meeting of the central performance committee held at the party’s central office in Sanepa, Lalitpur on Sunday formed an election committee under the coordination of Joint General Secretary Bhishmaraj Angdambe.

Angdambe-led committee comprises Prakash Snehi and Pushpa Bhusal as members. The committee will conduct the PP leader’s election.

According to NC spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, the committee will hold a meeting soon and set the date for the election of the parliamentary party.

Prime Minister and party President Sher Bahadur Deuba and General Secretary Gagan Thapa are aspiring to be the parliamentary party leader.

There is a constitutional provision that one must become a leader of a parliamentary party to be a candidate for the Prime Minister.
