NEA earns Rs 10.39 billion through electricity exports



KATHMANDU: Nepal has exported hydropower worth Rs 10.39 billion to India till mid-November.

According to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), it has so far sold 1.26 billion units of hydropower in the Indian market.

NEA started selling electricity on the day-ahead market of the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) in mid-May.

Initially, it exported 39 MW generated by two hydropower projects.

At present, NEA is selling 409 MW of hydropower in IEX.

The average selling price is Rs 8.23 per unit, according to NEA.
