UML Chair Oli authorized to select party’s PR candidates

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has authorized party Chair KP Sharma Oli to make the final decision on proportional representative (PR) candidates for November 20 elections.

A leader said that the Secretariat meeting held at Balkot on Sunday afternoon gave Oli the ultimate authority of selecting 110 PR candidates for the House of Representatives and 220 PR candidates for the Provincial Assembly.

The UML had formed a task force to select names of candidates received from all over the country. Now, UML Chair Oli will pick final 330 PR candidates from among the names forwarded by the task force.

The party is set to submit the closed list of PR candidate to the Election Commission on Monday.

“The party chair will be assisted by a few leaders to decide the ultimate closed list of PR candidates in line with the format provided by the Election Commission,” said the leader.

It is learned that UML Bagmati Province in-charge Kashinath Adhikari has been staying at Oli residence for the past two days to assist Oli with various works.
