Three arrested from EC premises for hooliganism



KATHMANDU: Three people have been arrested for rioting and shouting slogans on the Election Commission (EC) premises on Sunday.

As the EC was running the election program of registering closed list of candidates under proportional representative (PR) electoral system at its premises on Sunday, youths led by Samajwadi Kendra Chair Yubraj Safal reached the venue and began hooliganism.

After Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Chandra Thapalia informed the police about the ruckus created by the youths, police swung to action and arrested them.

The arrested have been identified as Yubraj Safal, Krishna Gopal Banjara and Meenman Devkota.

They have been kept at Durbar Marg Police Circle for investigation, police said.
