Unified Socialist outlines 7 criteria for selection of candidates in Nov 20 polls

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Unified Socialist) has set seven points as criteria for selection of the party’s candidates in the upcoming provincial and federal elections.

The party’s secretariat meeting also decided to pick candidates for November 20 election by September 5, said party’s General Secretary Beduram Bhusal.

Party members committed to the direction, policy and program who played an active role in the past struggles and have immensely contributed to the formation of the party are likely to be chosen as candidates for the election.

In addition, the party members displaying unwavering loyalty to the party and those who are self-disciplined, whose financial and moral conduct is commendable and are established and popular among the people are likely to be picked candidates.

Also, members having a clean image, who favor good governance, who are active, and who do not oppose inclusiveness are viable for candidacy, the party said.

The federal and provincial electoral constituency coordination committee shall recommend the potential candidates by August 26 to the district committee which in turn would send the list to the provincial committee by August 28.

The provincial committee will forward the recommendation to the central committee by August 31 and the central committee will have a final say on candidacy by September 5.
