UML Chair Oli reaches Jhapa on the day of passing the Citizenship Bill

KATHMANDU: When the meeting of the House of Representatives has started discussion on the Citizenship Bill sent back for general amendment by President Bidya Devi Bhandari, CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has reached his home district Jhapa skipping the meeting on Thursday.

According to sources, UML Chair Oli reached his home district soon after the announcement of the Citizenship Bill as Thursday’s agenda in the House.

The Citizenship Bill is set to be passed today after the parties failed to reach an agreement in the meeting of the House of Representatives Working Arrangement Consultative Committee held on Thursday morning.

The UML Chair reached Jhapa to participate in the party program. Oli had returned from Jhapa after spending three days there few days ago.

Although the UML leaders said that Oli went to his home district to prepare for the upcoming province and federal elections, political analysts are of the view that he reached there to skip the HoR meeting scheduled to discuss the Citizenship Bill.
