NC to forge an electoral alliance in parliamentary elections to garner clear majority
The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to face the upcoming parliamentary and provincial elections by forming an alliance.
The Central Committee, which concluded on Monday, decided to continue with the current ruling coalition until the upcoming elections.
“The party has decided to forge an electoral alliance to ensure a clear majority in the upcoming House of Representatives and State Assembly elections,” party Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said.
The meeting, he said, has decided to proceed with an electoral alliance through mutual dialogue with the parties in the ruling coalition.
Api Power and GreenZo Energy sign MoU to invest Rs 10 billion for green hydrogen energy
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Api Power and India’s GreenZo Energy Company to set up various green hydrogen plants with a total consumption capacity of 50 MW by 2025 in Nepal.
The MoU was signed by Satish Neupane, Chairman of Api Power Company, Nepal and Shreya Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GreenZo Energy Company, India.
French Ambassador Bourbao calls on UML Chair Oli
Ambassador of France to Nepal Gilles Bourbao has held talks with CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli at the UML party office in Lalitpur on Monday.
The talks focused on friendly relationship between the two countries and mutual cooperation.
Informing about the presidential election of France, Ambassador Bourbao inquired about the local level election held on May 16 earlier this year.
Oli elaborated the election process in the country to the French Ambassador.
AIG Pokharel resigns
Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police Bishworaj Pokharel has resigned from the post on Monday.
He submitted his resignation in person at the Human Resource Department of the Nepal Police today.
Pokharel had moved the Supreme Court against the government’s decision to appoint Dhiraj Pratap Singh as Inspector General of Police.
AIG Pokharel resigned after the Supreme Court did not give a verdict in his favor last Friday.
Nepal sees 457 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours
Witnessing an uptick in COVID-19 cases in the past few days, Nepal recorded a total of 457 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Monday.
Out of the confirmed cases, 386 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 71 through the Antigen method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 4,651 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours. Of them, 2,341 samples were tested through RT-PCR and 2,310 through the Antigen method.
PM Deuba orders to address problems facing freed Kamaiyas
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has directed the government’s ministry concerned to identify the problems facing the freed Kamaiyas and seek ways of addressing them.
Addressing a program organized on the occasion of the 22nd year of the declaration of abolishment of the Kamaiya (bonded labor) practice in Baluwatar on Monday, he instructed the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation for carrying out the necessary action for fully rooting out this evil practice.
Three held for coercing businessman using honeytrap tactics
Police have arrested three persons involved in running a honey-trapping operation and threatening a businessman in Kathmandu Valley.
The arrested have been identified as Kalpana Basnet, 31, of Sindhuli, her husband Krishnahari Khadka and police inspector imposter Sanjay Karki.
According to Valley Crime Investigation Office, the arrested used Basnet to trap a businessman and coerced him into giving them money.
ANFA picks 23-member team for SAFF U-20 Championship
All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has announced a 23-member team to play the 2022 SAFF U-20 Championship on behalf of Nepal.
The regional event is scheduled to take place in Bhubaneswar of Odisha state of India from coming July 25 to August 5.
Main coach for U-20 Meghraj KC picked up 23 members among 30 with Ishwor Gurung, Unesh Chaudhary and Jiyarath Sheikh selected as goalkeepers.
