Three held for coercing businessman using honeytrap tactics



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three persons involved in running a honey-trapping operation and threatening a businessman in Kathmandu Valley.

The arrested have been identified as Kalpana Basnet, 31, of Sindhuli, her husband Krishnahari Khadka and police inspector imposter Sanjay Karki.

According to Valley Crime Investigation Office, the arrested used Basnet to trap a businessman and coerced him into giving them money.

They also tried to coerce victim’s family, relatives and friends by befriending them through social media and issuing threats that they would be dragged to the police.

Police are preparing to file a case after investigating the matter.
